Reflect and perfect
Analyse how far the extract depicts the polices point of view rather than the criminals.
At the beginning of the extract we are watching the police officers point of view. It show them having a relaxing lunch in a restaurant only to be interrupted by the diagetic machine, communicating that a crime had occurred.
As well as that, within the duration of the crime taking place, the camera focused just on the police officers with, close up and establishing shots, to connote their fear by focusing on the face and body language. As well as that the criminals have black masks on to connote mystery and therefore we are unable to identify the criminals facial expressions to see how he may be feeling unlike the officers.
Finally, on the police chase, they only film the events occurring in Jake and Ryan's car, how they're handling the criminals and their plans to try and catch them. They create a sense of tension and worry whether the criminals are going to get caught.
How far does the extract try to create a sense that it's portraying real life?
A way the show shows reality is through a diverse cast. Every character conform their own stereotype. For instance, throughout the extract you can identify that Ryan takes the authoritative role. This conforms to the stereotype, of black people usually being part of the crime, as he is the main police officer, as black people are present in everyday life, black people would feel connected to the show as in reality, they dont conform to those stereotypes anymore.
Another way the extract creates a sense that it's portraying real life is in the restaurant. In the restaurant they are having a normal conversation which conveys people in the police force are also normal human beings, it shows this through it showing the police officers, back rounds and personalities not just the crime aspect. As well as that they use non diagetic in the restaurant, this conveys normality, due to normal music playing in the back round is what happens in everyday life, it makes us feel connected to the show and forget its just a programme due to it's realistic touches.
